The host has requested RSVPs for this event

-- If possible, please click "going" to RSVP (capacity is limited). Note that this is a "2G" event for vaccinated or recovered people only, see "covid policy" below --

Let’s get to know each other and discuss anything related to solving the world's most pressing problems and helping others effectively. Note that this is a meetup specifically for people who are already familiar with the Effective Altruism *philosophy*. People new to the community are welcome (see below) and we speak both English and German, whichever you prefer.

20:00 Arrivals
20:10 Introduction round (recommended) and announcements
20:20 Open discussions and socializing
open-end (21:30 or later)
(join & leave anytime)

If there’s anything specific you’d like to discuss or get input on, let us know in the introduction round! Any topic is welcome - a cause area, a career decision, a project or just this cool new game you want to try out.

Venue: Teamwork Space (thanks Sebastian for hosting!). We'll have drinks and a few snacks there, and you're free to bring your own food and drinks too.

~~~ Covid policy ~~~
To reduce the risk of infection and follow venue rules, this event will be "2G" for people who are fully vaccinated or recently fully recovered from infection only. This policy will also allow us not to use masks (see recent event policy update by Berlin authorities). Please keep an appropriate distance from each other and if you have any Covid symptoms, stay home.
I hope this policy works for everyone (feedback welcome via www.bit.ly/ea_anonymous_feedback)
~~~New people welcome! ~~~

We're happy to welcome new people, and this event is a good starting point! If you’re new, I (Manuel) am happy to introduce you to the community - just approach me at the event.

We are also happy to discuss specific EA topics, just note that at this event, we don’t have the capacity for full introductions to the EA philosophy. For that, we recommend the resources on www.effectivealtruism.org (EA philosophy) and www.80000hours.org (EA career advice). Have a look before the meetup, then you'll find it easier to follow the discussion.

~~~ Effective Altruism ~~~
Effective Altruism (EA) is a philosophy and social movement that uses evidence and reasoning to determine the most effective ways to help others. It’s a diverse community of researchers, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists spread around the globe, working together in various areas such as risks of emerging technologies, animal welfare, and global health to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
EA Berlin is one of 300 local EA groups around the globe. We connect students and professionals interested in doing good effectively and support them in their personal development and career planning to increase their impact. We organize meetups, discussion groups, workshops, and retreats, facilitate projects, and also offer 1-1 career coaching.
