Join EA Philly's "Talk Tuesdays" watch party and small group discussion, featuring Joey Savoie's talk titled "What it really takes to found a high impact charity" given at EA Global: London 2021.
---Joey argues that starting an evidence-based charity may be an exceptionally impactful career path. His organisation, Charity Entrepreneurship, has extensive experience training, funding and supporting successful founders. Joey profiles what it takes to succeed and how these traits are not what you might assume.

EVENT FORMAT:
After a <5min introduction, the featured talk and/or Q&A (15-40min) will be shown over Zoom. Afterward, attendees will be divided into a series of rotating small discussion groups to chat about the session content. Optional discussion prompts will be provided to keep the conversation flowing.

Open to -- Everyone! Though certain talks may be more "advanced" than others, Talk Tuesdays are geared towards a general audience who are eager to explore EA-related topics with an open mind.

SPEAKER BIO:
Joey works on high-level strategy across all the departments and mentorship and training for the participants of the Incubation Programs. He is also one of the primary contributors to the handbook "How to Start a High-Impact Nonprofit".

​Prior to Charity Entrepreneurship, Joey co-founded Charity Science, a meta-organization that increased the amount of counterfactual funding going to high-impact charities. Subsequently, he co-founded Charity Science Health, a nonprofit that increases vaccination rates in India using mobile phones and behavioral nudges. He has given lectures on various aspects of charity entrepreneurship and Effective Altruism in Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, EAG London, EAG San Francisco, Berlin, Basel, Vancouver, Stockholm, and others.
