Life as a whole brain emulation (em) would probably be pretty awful, largely on account of a Malthusian race to the bottom.

Luckily, in my opinion it's looking very likely (I'd say ~98% likely) that we'll end up in a future that isn't dominated by ems.

(Meta point: this is a ludicrously short summary+hot take for such a detailed book, I totally don't do it justice.)
