Global Burden of Disease Study

The Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) is  a collaborative research program that collects information about mortality and disability caused by different diseases, injuries and risk factors.

To quantify health loss, GBD relies primarily on the disability-adjusted life year (DALY), a type of health-adjusted life year. This measure allows for comparisons over time, across age groups, and among populations.
