Giving What We Can - Pledge page trial (EA Market Testing)

My pet theory about this is that original presentation looks very commercial and like most tech-subscription services, and that the simpler version looks, for lack of a better term, cheaper and also less commercial.

Some potential lessons from Carrick’s Congressional bid

I am not sure if he did this / this sort of thing is feasible, but it could have been a great move to say something like: I will not in any way seek to influence crypto policy while in office OR I will not seek relevant committee assignments for crypto regulation OR even I will abstain from all votes related to cryptocurrencies.

Might have been better to be more forceful in distancing himself from SBF. But I guess this is all very easy to say in hindsight.

What would you like to see Giving What We Can write about?

I would like to read more about the ways in which we can promote effective giving without coming across as too pushy.

How should people spend money to be more productive?

Somehow Freedom does not work for me, but I feel the same way about Cold Turkey (https://getcoldturkey.com/). This software is a life saver for me.

EA coworking/lounge space on gather.town

I would love to try this but I use focusmate mostly to well... Stay focused... I really don't see the point of co-working if I can't share my screen? Is that sort of thing possible on Gather town? Because last time I checked (more than a year ago) it was not.

Off Road: support for EAs struggling at uni

Makes sense and I will definitely keep an eye on whether you guys make something available for everyone! :)

Off Road: support for EAs struggling at uni

I am really happy that someone is doing this, and I would have loved to take part in this when I was in uni!

That however gets me thinking: Isn't this something that should be open to non-students as well? I am part of the EA group on Focusmate (for me a real life / job saver), which seems to include a lot of non-students, and I know for a fact that I could still really benefit from having an accountability partner that shares some of my values. Is the plan to test this with students and later see whether this could work for others as well? Or is the focus just on students because that is generally where we see executive dysfunction? Or because it is the group most interesting for community building?

How I got an entry-level role in Congress

Thank you for your post! I hope to one day work as a legislative staffer at the EP, so this was inspiring to read, and I feel like it will be equally applicable there!
