I am an independent energy and climate consultant based in Kenya with 20 years’ experience working for both public and private sector clients on projects targeting commercialization and uptake of energy and climate technologies; providing services such as market studies, technical training, business mentoring, quality assurance support, design of funding programs, and review of policies for solar PV, rural electrification, mini-grids, bioenergy, energy efficiency standards and labels and energy efficiency in buildings.
I have also been providing technical support to Renewable Energy, Climate and Resilience challenge funds which finance sustainable models for deployment of energy and climate products and services. This support includes program design and implementation, review of funding applications, due diligence visits, compiling methodologies for assessing development impact and carbon emission reductions, tracking supported projects to identify implementation barriers, tracking progress on key performance indicator targets, and undertaking targeted studies to identify and understand key market trends that would inform future funding and program design
I served, in a voluntary role, as the chair of the Kenya Renewable Energy Association from 2009-2016. The association is a business membership organization whose objective is to improve the business environment for renewables in Kenya.
