Hello, I am a final-year European languages student at a top 15 UK university. I am particularly interested in ethical AI and global governance. At the moment, the most likely career path is consulting at a global professional services firm – I hope that through this I will be able to learn more about how to make technological innovation more democratic and equitable.

I plan to get involved in policy on a voluntary basis. Within the next 5 years I would love to do a masters degree in technology ethics or international relations, but the top UK masters programmes are both extremely competitive (E.G. international relations at LSE, Oxford Internet Institute) and expensive. Therefore, I plan to gain relevant professional experience first and wait to see exactly what career I want to pursue before considering a masters.

Long term, I aspire to work in tech/innovation policy or political risk research. I believe that consulting (especially risk or tech-focused) could also generate excellent career capital. I would prefer to be UK-based, but working in the EU would also be an option.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this as well as any other ideas that you think may be worth exploring!
