Thank you for the nice example, it is definitely helpful to consider! However, I have a question.
Context: we have recently launched an Effective Giving platform in Latvia, and made some "classical" ads (100x impact, DALY, numbers of animals at industrial farms etc.). Frankly, they were not successful. That's why I was happy to see your post - it provides a new angle, showing what could we do differently next time!
But the question is: if anyone asks to back up the statement "Millions of donations never happen because...", how could I respond? If you know - is there any statistics or survey data behind that? I'm asking because we have agreed on communication strategy that emphasizes rationality, logic and data. Thus we are trying to use verifiable or traceable claims.
In any case, the analysis is great, I liked the parts about the second person and avoiding comparison!
