Suffering-focused ethics encompasses any ethical framework that prioritizes reducing suffering, including negative utilitarianism, the view that people should minimize the total amount of aggregate suffering. This is in contrast to forms of utilitarianism that place equal importance on reducing suffering and increasing happiness or pleasure.
