High Impact Engineers is a community of engineers trying to have a large positive impact on the world.
Tech x FAW is a monthly discussion regarding technological solutions to address the suffering of farmed animals around the world.
RSVP here!What is happening?
Join us for the second Tech x FAW group discussion! This month, we will be discussing reducing keel bone damage in laying hens.
The topic
Reducing production costs is critical for cultivated meat to reach the market at scale. Cultivated meat is still orders of magnitude more expensive than conventional meat, in part due to labor-intensive processes and strict requirements for sterility. Human handling introduces risks of contamination, which increases costs and slows production.
Could automation/robotics help reduce manual labor, increase production rates, or minimize contamination?
This discussion will bring together people who understand the technical challenges in cultivated meat with technologists and other interested parties to explore whether viable ideas exist to lower costs and scale production efficiently.
Should I prepare anything?
Join the discussion for this event over the Impact Forge. This is where we will crowdsource any cool resources we come across! If you can, spend a little time reading up on this topic ahead of time.
The Impact Forge is the new forum of the High Impact Engineers community. Check it out!
Who should come?
Anyone who is interested in the discussion is welcome, including technical and non-technical people.
Don't forget to RSVP!
