HOW SHOULD WE TACKLE THE WORLD'S BIGGEST PROBLEMS?
WHAT EVEN ARE THE WORLD'S BIGGEST PROBLEMS?

Climate change, global poverty, nuclear war, pandemics... These are tough questions when it feels like the world is burning all the time. Effective altruism (EA) offers a new way of answering these questions.

UChicago Effective Altruism's Introductory Fellowship empowers UChicago students to figure out how to make the biggest difference in the world. Through weekly readings and small-group discussions, fellows explore core ideas and concepts of effective altruism - all while bonding with other students who are also dedicated to making the world a better place.

The Fellowship consists of:

  • Six weeks of small-group meetings, readings (~1 hour/week), and weekly discussions
  • a carefully crafted syllabus with readings/videos/podcasts about some of the world's most pressing problems, ways of tackling them with our careers, and tools for prioritizing among social problems and interventions.
  • socials, speaker events, and more!
  • weekly time commitment: 2 hours per week (1 hr readings, 1 hr discussion).
  • completing the Intro Fellowship makes you eligible to apply for our exclusive high-impact careers retreat, which takes place over the first weekend of Spring Break.

We are currently accepting applications until Sunday, January 16th at 5 PM CT.
