Join us for EA South Africa's first-ever summit

We are thrilled to announce the EA South Africa Summit, which will take place on October 5th, 2024, at Brickfield Canvas in Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa.

This highly anticipated one-day event aims to bring together around 50 individuals from South Africa who are interested in learning more about Effective Altruism and EA-aligned principles. 

What to expect

• Engaging keynote speeches and thought-provoking panel discussions on various topics including global health and development, animal welfare, and existential risks.
• Breakout sessions and interactive workshops.
• Opportunities to schedule 1-1s with members of the community and leading researchers in the field.
• Ample networking opportunities with like-minded individuals and organisations.

Should you apply?

This summit invites participants from South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and in exceptional cases, around the globe, who are interested and engaged in addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues, taking practical steps to resolve them, or exploring potential solutions. We expect to have over 50 attendees, with particular emphasis on the following groups:

• Individuals from South Africa and neighbouring countries interested in learning more about EA 
• Existing members of the EA SA community or South African individuals familiar with effective altruism
• Individuals running or working for EA-aligned projects with operations in South Africa or other neighbouring countries
