In this first session we would like to discuss the variants of welfare consequentialism (positive vs. negative variable population / total vs. average utilitarianism) that are held by individuals within the EA community. Further, we want to shine a light on their respective consequences, concerning questions of long-term effects and the welfare of present and future generations of sentient beings.
