This is Effective Altruism Austin's weekly, welcome-to-all event!
This week, we will kick it off with an activity from Clearer Thinking, and then put our heads together to share results and what we learned. We'll pick the activity from these options: https://www.clearerthinking.org/tools
Does one activity stand out? You can vote on the activity in the EA Austin Slack Workspace. If you are already into "EA" but not in our Slack yet, fill our Member Intake Survey for Slack access. You'll also get lots of other benefits, like free 1:1 advising on your altruistic focus, private event invites, and access to all our courses.
Fill it here, and then access our Slack via the *final page of the survey*:

As usual, the latter part of the evening will be free-chat with other local altruists. We usually switch the tone around 8:30.

Parking? -- The Buzz Mill has parking in its front and back, but if it fills up you can park at the Walgreens nearby. (Note that the Dairy Queen tows!)
Food? -- There are two food trucks at The Buzz Mill, and one is vegan. Something for everyone.

What is EA Austin?
EA Austin is the local chapter of the global effective altruism community.
"Effective altruism" is a project that aims to have a massive positive impact.
It's both a:
1. Research field on the world’s most-pressing problems and their most-promising solutions
2. Friendly community full of aspiring professionals who use those findings to help others as much as we can!
If you are new to EA, we recommend this (15 min) overview of effective altruism to get you up to speed. You'll enjoy the conversation and "get" the group much more if you read it: http://bit.ly/introea
DM a host if you have questions!
