Brendan co-founded Fortify Health with Nikita Patel to prevent anemia and neural tube defects in India, where anemia affects approximately half of women and children, and neural tube defects affect about 4 of every 1000 children born. Adding micronutrients to staple foods (fortification) can substantially reduce the risk of these conditions as well as downstream disabilities and illnesses.

Fortify Health was awarded a GiveWell Incubation Grant to scale up wheat flour fortification in India after initially establishing its strategy and operations with the support of seed funds and mentoring from Charity Science.

Brendan graduated from Harvard College, where he studied psychology, global health, and health policy. Prior to co-founding Fortify Health, he worked with Partners In Health’s mental health team in Perú.
