One potential tool in the fight against climate change is divestment from corporations that are responsible for producing carbon emissions, such as oil and mining companies. Student activists have been pushing for ANU to divest from the fossil fuel industry since at least 2014.

But does divesting from fossil fuels actually reduce carbon emissions? And by how much? How does the effectiveness of divestment compare to other interventions like lobbying for carbon pricing? If we want to do as much as possible to avert climate catastrophes, we ought to try and answer these questions!
