Curious on how you can make a difference? Chances are you can have a much bigger impact than you may imagine. Effective Altruism wants to improve the world based on scientific evidence and reasoning. We look for ways to maximize the amount of good we can do with the smallest amount of resources.
We do so for example by comparing charities in terms of effect per dollar, the most effective charities are often 100x more effective than the median. We look for new previously underestimated ways of improving lives, like eliminating lead exposure in developing countries, and try to anticipate and mitigate risk of future crisis, like those of global pandemics.
