Joshua Monrad and Janvi Ahuja will explore global catastrophic biological risks - the ways in which biological agents could cause civilisational catastrophes even worse than history's most disastrious pandemics. As well as taking a look at what biological risks should worry us most and what interventions are most effective in reducing them, Joshua and Janvi will explore how the biosecurity community is currently building knowledge and capacity to address these risks, and what using your own career to support that work could look like.

Janvi is a PhD student in Computational and Structural Biology here at Oxford and an affiliate of the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI). Joshua is a researcher on the biosecurity team at FHI and holds a MSc in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and London School of Economics and Political Science.

There'll be a Q&A followed by pizza in the cafe after the talk. Looking forward to seeing you there!

COVID policy: Please note that for this event we require a negative lateral flow test prior to attending. Thank you for your cooperation.
