Our two presenters are Rick Ferri and Ellen Quigley.
Rick Ferri is President of the John C. Bogle Center, a co-author of Bogleheads’ Guide to Retirement Planning, and host of the Bogleheads on Investing podcast. Mr. Ferri was handpicked by Jack Bogle, the late founder of Vanguard (the multi-trillion dollar money management group that offered the first index fund), to lead his Center.
Dr. Ellen Quigley is Advisor to the CFO of the University of Cambridge, is Senior Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (Cambridge), and has presented at EA Finance.
Mr. Ferri will talk about why index investing makes financial sense for institutional investors, HNWIs, and even ordinary investors.
Dr. Quigley will explain why index investing allows universal ownership to better align corporate behavior with social responsibility.
Their talks will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
This event is part of the AI Value Alignment Series presented by EA Berkeley, which includes speakers such as Brian Christian, Caroline Jeanmaire, Rohin Shah, and others. Most events in this series are from the AI perspective, but this is an one-off event to examine the alignment problem from a business perspective.
