CBS Food Hub in collaboration with Effective Altruism Denmark and Tempty Foods invites you to a talk about ALTERNATIVE PROTEINS.

The current state of animal agriculture is unsustainable. However, the new and advancing field of alternative protein works to combat these issues and is attracting increasing attention and financial investment. But is the alternative protein field a sustainable and realistic way to change the food system? Will it be able to feed an expected 9 billion people by 2050? And how should we consider nutrition, public health, land use, water use, and animal welfare?

→ 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀?
Frederik Lau from Effective Altruism Denmark and Amanda Hansen - Msc student researching cultured meat at Aarhus University - will give an introduction to plant based meats, fermentation derived products and cultivated meat. We will talk about how new protein sources are made, the challenges within the field and what future food and protein sources may look like. We will discuss the problems with our current food system and why alternative proteins offer an exciting and promising future.

Marina Lokajová will introduce her journey with Tempty Foods - an early stage food startup creating alternatives to tofu and meat from a fungi-based protein.
