We meet every second Wednesday, and each time we discuss a recent topic of interest in the Effective Altruism community, and spend time supporting one another in learning about effective altruism.

For the next 12 weeks we will switch focus to discuss Will MacAskill's new book, What We Owe The Future. To look forward at this, for August 24, we will discuss recent media attention on Effective Altruism.

Come to discuss anything you've heard about EA recently, but if you want some suggested readings, try:

- this longform article, "The Reluctant Prophet of Effective Altruism", https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2022/08/15/the-reluctant-prophet-of-effective-altruism
- If you prefer audio "Three Sentences That Could Change the World — and Your Life" https://www.stitcher.com/show/the-ezra-klein-show-2/episode/three-sentences-that-could-change-the-world-and-your-life-205623265

-----

We are loosely aligned to the global EA movement. You can read more about the global movement here https://www.effectivealtruism.org/ or read third party summary here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effective_altruism

We strive to ensure a diverse set of voices are heard. We want to emphasize that women and non-binary people, people of color, and people of all ages, religions, belief systems, and political perspectives are welcome at our meetings to share in our common interest in effective altruism.
