When aiming for impact, effective altruists often try to avoid politicised issues and politics in general, fearing these topics can be intractable and distract from more pressing problems. However others have argued that EA limits it impact by ignoring wider questions of systemic change, and in fact implicitly (and sometimes explicitly) supports existing politics and systems through its approaches to doing good and reluctance to critique.
