Come along to our Week 6 speaker event: Robert Mather on "The Against Malaria Foundation: What We Do & How We Do It", co-hosted with Raise Oxford. There'll be free pizza and plenty of time to chat afterwards.

Rob is the founder and CEO of The Against Malaria Foundation (againstmalaria.com). AMF's process has remained largely the same over the years: donations from the public are used to buy long-lasting insecticide-treated anti-malaria nets. They work with distribution partners, including national Ministries of Health, to distribute them. Independent partners help AMF monitor all aspects of their programmes, including post-distribution monitoring to help ensure nets are distributed as intended, are hung and used properly, and continue to be used properly in subsequent years.

AMF has now raised more than $190 million, funding 86 million anti-mosquito bed nets protecting 155 million people in 35 countries, mainly in Africa. For seven of the past eight years, AMF has been a top-ranked charity of the independent charity evaluators GiveWell and The Life You Can Save.

No tickets required, and everyone very welcome - just turn up!

Join us an hour earlier, at 5, for a workshop with Danica from 1Day Sooner, an organisation that advocates for people who want to participate in high-risk, high-reward medical studies. These "challenge" trials could have led to COVID-19 vaccines been approved much earlier, but were not allowed.

We also have co-working spaces from 1pm, and drop in to chat to a committee member about anything all afternoon.

When you come to EA Oxford events, you're agreeing to be considerate, and take a lateral flow test if you aren't vaccinated. Read more: https://eaoxford.com/inclusion-policy

The HB Allen Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. The pizza should cater for all dietary requirements. Do message us if you have any questions about accessibility or anything else!
