An informal meetup for anybody who is interested in or curious about effective altruism, a philosophy that promotes using reason and evidence to do the most good in the world.
One of the groups that helped define the EA movement was the rationalist community, particularly as represented by those active in the LessWrong forum. But what does rationality mean? In the book "The Scout Mindset: Why Some People See Things Clearly and Others Don't", Julia Galef (founder of EA-aligned NGO "Center for Applied Rationality" and host of the "Rationally Speaking" podcast) provides a friendly introduction to the topic.
In our next meetup, our host Ariel will discuss some key takeaways from the book and share some insights regarding the importance of rationality for the EA movement.
