We are incredibly excited that Josh Tasoff, Economics Professor at The Claremont Graduate University, accepted our invitation to give a presentation and Q&A on his animal welfare research! Prof. Tasoff has received funding from the Open Philanthropy Project, and has also published widely in mainstream behavioral econ.

Parking: https://goo.gl/maps/6kpaBmAFht1S7EMn9 or https://goo.gl/maps/uQy1D2wyRn1BvNTp7 for overflow (Chavez Ravine Rd Parking, in the Elysian Park arboretum)
Reading: we'll be discussing two papers by Prof. Tasoff et al:
- Eating to save the planet: Evidence from a randomized controlled trial using individual-level food purchase data, 2020, in Food Policy

- Changing Hearts and Plates: The Effect of Animal-Advocacy Pamphlets on Meat Consumption, 2021, Frontiers in Psychology.

At a minimum, please skim both papers and pick out at least one discussion point from each you want to talk about. Full reading encouraged. The meetup will be a brief lecture followed by discussion/Q&A.
Even if animal welfare & climate change aren't your main cause areas, there's a lot to learn here about economics, policymaking, and study design. Come prepared with insightful questions-- it's a great altruistic thing to do for everyone else at the meetup. Let's learn some new stuff!
