Hi, and welcome to our global community of people working to reduce and prevent suffering in the near and distant future for all sentient beings! :)

Before attending for the first time, please:

  • Read the full meetup description, and
  • Familiarise yourself with Suffering-Focussed Ethics, our work and potential high-impact cause areas to work on at
    👉 https://compassionate-future.org/

Our online meetups are designed to

  • Foster a sense of community
  • Motivate impactful contributions, including research, project development, volunteering, and effective giving
  • Encourage peer support and collaboration among participants

Structure of the Meetup:

1. Moderated introductions: Sharing short personal updates & brief overviews of what participants have been working on most recently (~1 minute per person)

2. Deep dives of 2–3 participant projects, based on participant interests

3. Takeaways: Key takeaways and next steps (~1 min/person).

4. Open-ended continuation: Optional, mostly unmoderated, for those who want to stay longer

Approximate time investment: 1.5 h

Contribution Guidelines

This space is intended to support people who are actively trying to move from reflection to execution. If you want to talk about ideas without anchoring them to action, this might not be the format for you.

We encourage the following contributions during the meetups:

Desired focus of the event (~50%)

1. Updates on participants’ personal compassionate impact projects

2. Insights of participant’s research - please specify how the insights inform your actions or contribute to projects that event participants are working on.

Next (~35-40%):

3. Personal connection, story-sharing, fun, and wellbeing

4. Discussion of personal fit, personal development and general opportunities in the space

Last (~10-15%):

5. Philosophical, political, or current-affairs discussions, where relevant to action

6. Research less directly tied to specific projects

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's impact process 🤗
