What this meetup is
This is a small, friendly social (10–20 people), giving newcomers the opportunity to:
- Meet others who are also new to effective altruism
- Learn more about impactful opportunities in London
- Ask questions in a relaxed, low-pressure setting
- Connect with the organisers of EA UK (Gergő) and Impact First (Alicia), and learn more about the community support we offer, as well as meet our guests Sudhanshu Kasewa from 80,000 Hours and Moneer Moukaddem from Successif.
The goal of these meetups is to make it easier for people to discover and engage with the community — whether you’re new to the ideas or just new to the London scene.
Who this is for
This event is aimed at both students and professionals who are not yet integrated into the London EA community. For example, you might be a good fit if:
- You recently discovered effective altruism and want to learn more
- You’ve been reading, listening, or engaging online for years, but haven’t participated much in person
- It’s your first time engaging with the London group in particular (e.g. you’ve recently moved to London)
This event is not intended for
- People who are already active in the London EA community (e.g. having attended 5+ events)
- Those primarily looking for a general social for the existing community
