We meet every second Tuesday to discuss topics relating to effective altruism and get to know each other better.

Sometimes there is a particular theme that we'll be committed to discussing, but generally, the members named here will always be eager to discuss any of their listed research interests: https://roamresearch.com/#/app/EAAKL/page/CDU1L3w-Q

If there is a particular EA topic that you're in the mood to discuss, remember to mention it to an organizer so that we can list it here.

We consider scale, neglectedness, and tractability ( https://concepts.effectivealtruism.org/concepts/importance-neglectedness-tractability/ ) to look for underrated opportunities to make the world a better place, and then we support each other in pursuing those opportunities. We plan for the long term: building, not burnout.

OPEN TO ALL: Our group is open to people from all stages and walks of life including working professionals, students, retirees, and any other people interested in Effective Altruism are warmly invited to attend.

We strive to ensure a diverse set of voices are heard, and we emphasize that women and non-binary people, tangata whenua and other people of colour, and people of all religions, belief systems, and political perspectives conservative and liberal are welcome at our meetings to share in our common interest in effective altruism.

TIME: Don't worry if you can't make it on time. It's fine to turn up late. If you're later than 20:00 though, we may have moved to a restaurant. In that case, call mako for directions.

READ UP: Discussion goes better when you come informed. At the same time, if you don't get a chance to read up, we'd rather you still come along than not!

FOOD: There will generally be almonds, dates, and caffeine-free chocolate and peppermint tea. We would be grateful to anyone contributing snacks of their own. We may go for dinner at a vegan place, or a vegan-friendly place, at around 20:00

PARKING: Street parking is free from 6 PM on Princes Street. During the university semester, Princes Street is quite busy and you are unlikely to find a space from 6 PM. If you want a space on Princes Street during the semester, come around 5:30 PM and pay for half an hour for the best chance of getting a spot. Otherwise, pay parking is available at the parking building at 30 Kitchener Street.

MOBILITY PARKING: There are four mobility parking spaces at the entrance to the park at 32 Princes Street.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT ACCESS: Check AT.govt.nz for the route - there are generally great public transport links to Albert Park from most parts of the city.
