Join us for a discussion of Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, a dystopian novel set in a future where genetic engineering rules the world. It explores themes of existential risk, animal welfare, trans- and posthumanism, and the psychological effects of widespread poverty and violence.

We'll be discussing the book in full, but if you don't get a chance to finish the book before the group, feel free to join anyway!

  • We can provide you with a free digital copy of the book if you're planning to attend the discussion.
  • If the time doesn't work for you, we are hosting another discussion on September 24 at 5:30 am UTC.
  • Join the #book-club channel at EA Anywhere Slack to engage with other members and suggest books for future discussions.

The event is hosted by EA Anywhere - an online discussion space and a touchpoint for people without local EA groups nearby.  If you want to get more involved, check out our events calendar, subscribe to the monthly newsletter, or join our Slack workspace.
