AI has been a recent hot topic in the news – from chatGPT to “robot lawyer” to AlphaFold. Narrow AI models are being applied to a variety of industries, and are expected to continue. As this technology advances, our society will be confronted with many important questions that will have long-term consequences:
- What are potential benefits – and threats – of transformative AI?
- How can society address these risks?
- When, if ever, will AI surpass human intelligence?
We’ll discuss these and more.
Effective Altruism Miami’s February meetup will focus on AI Safety. The format will be small group discussions. No prior knowledge is needed, and we encourage you to attend if you feel uncertain.
