FULLY BOOKED!

The beloved Summer Camp is back. This year at peak summer time! Hosting a hundred effective altruists, no more, no less.

The polar opposite of EAG conferences: EA Summer Camp is an unconference that prioritizes joyful connections! The program is 100% designed by the participants – who are all aligned with effective altruism –, and can range from making music, ecstatic dance, karaoke, singing around a campfire, slacklining, parkour, yoga, meditation to workshops and discussions about rationality techniques, creative writing, community building, mental health, breathwork, authentic relating, and so much more. The purpose of the event is to reunite old friends and meet new like-minded people to recharge our batteries, play, while taking a break from saving lives.

This event is not a good place to get work done or progress on your career planning. We want participants to enjoy a nice summer camp with various social activities and connect with like-minded members of the community in an informal way, leaving our titles and suits behind. If you want to work on your career plans, we recommend attending EAGxBerlin instead. If you are not yet a part of the EA ideaspace, this is not the best place to jump in; we recommend visiting a local EA meetup first.

This event is entirely participant-driven, so bring a workshop or activity to facilitate! If you’ve never hosted a workshop before, we encourage you to try your hands at it in this encouraging environment :) Besides participant and workshop host, you'll also be a volunteer for the event to help run it smoothly. We'll collect volunteers on site for smaller tasks (such as chopping firewood), or you could give the organizing team a hand before the event by taking on larger tasks (such as shopping for snacks).

Location: west of Berlin, in Groß Kreutz, at Mollandur seminar house

Photos from last year: [here]

Pricing: 180 € regular ticket price, plus 32 euros for a bed in a shared room (optional, if not camping).

Testimonials

Summer Camp is a collection of kind, caring and curious people meeting to take some time out of the altruistic pursuits. I love the silliness of the workshops, hanging out with great people or just enjoying being outside every day ❤️ peace out, bubu

— Sara Recktenwald

Summer Camp has been one of the coolest experiences of the year! Met some of my closest friends there, tried out & learned a bunch of new things, made some life changing discoveries and just had so so so much fun

Strong upvote - we need more such events! Respect to @Laszlo Treszkai and @Marlyn for organising it!

Just learned about it! Do you have a newsletter or something so I can try to be quicker next year? I'll be in Berlin around that time in case someone wants to meet up before or after!

Sure

Oops, already subscribed. xD I'll try to pay more attention! Ty!

Really liked the word 'unconference' ! Entire idea sounds very cool, especially this line: "Tired of pretending we’re dead serious 100% of the time?"
