If you're doing independent AI safety research and getting grants from foundations like Open Phil and EA Funds, what are the pros and cons of setting up a company (such as an S Corp or LLC) to receive the funds (in the United States)?
I was born at the end of the cold war, unaware of the danger we were emerging from. Duck and cover drills (as if those could protect schoolchildren from a nuclear blast) were a curiosity of the past.
