What is the Value of Biodiversity?

A sequence on where the value of biodiversity comes from. 

The sequence starts by observing and quantifying how much value people are actively placing on "nature" today. It then examines a few cases for value, starting with instrumental values from ecosystem services and the potential for failure of earth's life support systems. Next it moves to examine the longterm value of biodiversity and intrinsic values from biodiversity. In the last post in the sequence, I show how these now-scrutinized values guide conservation differently than current conservation goals. I also forecast future risks and opportunities in conservation, given rapid advancement from AI development.
