As you may know, chickens are the most eaten land animal and trillions of sea animals are killed for food each year. Sure, maybe these animals feel pain, but why should we care about their suffering? They aren’t capable of that much, right? What if we just made sure that they were raised and killed “humanely”?

In this presentation, Lily and Louis will debunk some myths about chickens and fishes and go into detail about the industries that exploit them. They will also share what effective altruists and animal rights activists have been doing to help these surprisingly fascinating animals.

By the end of this presentation, you will know fun facts about chickens and fishes that will impress your friends, be an expert on factory farming, understand what “humane”, “free-range”, and “sustainably caught” labels are all about, and be inspired to make a positive impact on animal welfare

What a great workshop to teach people about the welfare of chickens and fishes! You may have already included some resources from Faunalytics in your workshop, but in case not, our resource 'Global Animal Slaughter Statistics' provides data on the number of chickens and fishes slaughtered worldwide and by country. Also, our original study on chickens and fishes investigated public beliefs about these species and whether these beliefs were associated with pro-animal behaviors such as signing a petition for improved welfare or taking a diet pledge to reduce one’s consumption of chickens or fishes. We hope these resources are useful for your workshop. If you have any questions about our resources, don't hesitate to contact us, we are here to help.
