Effective Environmentalism is a subcommunity within the Effective Altruism movement that is interested in the intersection between EA and climate change. The community is primarily online, and we have begun hosting weekly calls.
The core team is now developing a longer-term strategy for how to develop the movement. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at effectiveenvironmentalism at googlegroups dot com.
We have started a Slack channel to coordinate projects in the climate change space and have more in-depth discussions.
We have weekly calls with speakers and hosts on different topics relating to climate change and the intersection between climate change and various cause areas. These calls are usually at 11:30am EDT on Saturdays, but may vary depending on speaker availability.
You can find other EAs with interest or expertise in climate change. You can fill out your contact information here.
We have launched a website as a public-facing resource to share with newer community members, which serves as a landing page.
The resources page contains a fairly comprehensive list of EA-aligned research on climate change, including a list of recommended charities.
The core team is Jennifer Kirsch, Vaidehi Agarwalla, Sebastian Scott Engen, Mattis Ulvang and Elsa Kivinen.
Feel free to reach out to us with any questions, if you would like to volunteer with us.
