Disillusioned Altruism

By looking deep, where truths reside,
Our altruistic goals were clarified.
The purpose was pure, a noble quest,
Saving the world, from its dark unrest.

With hands outstretched, we sought to mend,
People’s fear that the world might end.
But as we gazed into their eyes,
All we saw was greed and lies.

The altruists, with a bleeding heart,
Were tortured by Machiavelli’s art.
Our hopes destroyed a selfish liar,
A noble cause, now lost in mire.

In the annals of time, our legacy depends,
On fighting for truth before the world ends.
May our quest inspire all those who dare,
To fight for reason, so that the world may care.
