Executive Summary
Longview is offering donors a new service.
- We now advise high-net-worth (HNW) donors looking to donate >$100k per year to AI safety projects.
- For interested HNW donors, we provide access to our AI grantmaking team’s top AI grant recommendations and our newly launched private Frontier AI Fund. We offer an introductory call to match HNW donors with grants that align with their interests and donor profile (e.g. geography, industry).
- This service aims to address critical gaps in the funding landscape—gaps that can make marginal donations several times more valuable than funding from existing donors. We recommend funding for:
- Projects that the largest donors are unlikely to fully fund.
- Projects that benefit from or can only take funding from donors with a specific profile (e.g. geography).
- Projects that would benefit from increased donor diversity.
- This complements our ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) advising work, which focuses more on educating and advising new major (~Giving Pledge-level) AI donors. This is still our core focus; we welcome and deeply appreciate introductions to such donors.
- For other donors, we continue to offer the public Emerging Challenges Fund.
Are you looking to donate >$100k to AI risk reduction work? Do you know someone with over $100k to donate? Please contact us or email our CEO, Simran Dhaliwal, at simran@longview.org.
Background: Longview’s UHNW Advising & Grantmaking
Since 2018, Longview Philanthropy has advised major donors on their giving. Our focus is UHNW advising: supporting donors who give >$1m per year and may scale their giving significantly. For such donors, we offer an end-to-end donor advising service, including bespoke education, introductions to experts and peer philanthropists, grant recommendations, grantee due diligence and grant logistics support, and impact assessments. We meet donors where they are—often helping them get up to speed on some or all of AI, biosecurity, and nuclear weapons policy.
Our AI grantmaking team currently consists of Aidan O’Gara (formerly GovAI, Epoch, CAIS) and Zach Freitas-Groff (PhD in Economics, Stanford).
Who is the new service for?
Donors who fit two criteria:
- Looking to give >$100k per year to AI (“HNW” donors), and
- Already understand the case for AI risk philanthropy.
What is the new service?
The core services are:
- Providing access to our top AI grant recommendations.
- Access to our private Frontier AI Fund (launched in 4Q24, raised $8.6m to date).
- Potential for sessions or dinners for groups of interested HNWIs.
Our CEO, Sim, and/or one of our AI Programme Officers would be very happy to have an introductory call with an interested HNW donor to better understand their profile, talk through our top AI grant recommendations, and match donors with the grants that best align with their interests and donor profile.
If you know a group of sufficiently interested prospective HNW donors, we can also host group sessions or dinners (e.g. with an AI presentation and Q&A). We did this for a group of finance professionals in Dec 2024 and employees of a tech company in Feb 2025. These both went very well!
