It's year-end but things are definitely not slowing down at Apollo Research (AI Safety evals)! We are still expanding and hiring across all teams. You'd work on important problems, build things that matter and be surrounded by talent.

There are many firsts in this hiring round that I'm excited about: we'll be hiring for our first role that is based in Washington, DC, US and our first Legal and Compliance Manager with a pathway for in-house legal counsel.

Our culture

It has come up multiple times during interviews that people read and appreciate how we have articulated the culture in Apollo. This clarity was also what prompted them to put in an application. I thought it will also be helpful to share it here

TL;DR We prioritize truth-seeking, results-oriented work, and collaborative problem-solving.

We are hiring for five roles to start in 2026

1) Research Scientists and Engineers: You'd work directly with frontier labs, move fast in a small organization, and we choose our own research agenda and what we publish. We're especially interested in people who thrive on fast empirical research cycles.

Location: 📍 London, UK | Rolling applications

2) Evals Engineer: You'll run evaluation campaigns every couple of weeks on models from the major labs we work with. You'll develop an intuition for how different models actually behave that almost no one else has. We’re looking for someone who enjoys optimizing evaluation pipelines and extracting insights from data at speed.

Location: 📍 London, UK | Application deadline 3 Jan 2026, early applications encouraged.

3) Backend SWE & Fullstack SWE: Our internal tools and infrastructure have directly enabled our research to scale and have dramatically accelerated our evaluation work. While these roles are less public-facing than RS/RE, they are core to Apollo's operations and impact. We're looking for people who love to work in a small and fast-moving environment, closely working with researchers.

Location:  📍 London, UK | Application deadline 15 Jan 2026, early applications encouraged.

4) US/NatSec Specialist: You'd expand our existing relationships and own our future engagements with the US Intelligence Community. We’re looking for someone who is excited about bridging technical research and policy to ensure we navigate advanced AI well.

Location:  📍 Washington, DC, US | Rolling applications, first batch reviewed by end of year.

5) Legal & Compliance Manager: This is Apollo's first full-time legal hire. You'll build our legal and compliance functions from the ground up across UK, US, and EU jurisdictions. We're looking for someone with legal experience (law firm, in-house, or both) who can operate at high velocity, shift between strategic and operational work, and navigate the landscape of AI safety.

Location: 📍 London, UK | Rolling applications, Q1 2026 start.
