The NSW Parliament has established an inquiry into the phase-out of Australian live sheep exports and they want to hear from you. The purpose of the inquiry is to consider the economic and social implications of the phase-out, but, fortunately, animal welfare considerations and community views are also included in the terms of reference.

Legislation to end live sheep exports by sea has passed, but those who oppose the ban are actively seeking ways to overturn this step forward for animal welfare. It’s imperative we continue to provide our voices to ensure this does not happen.

The Inquiry presents an important opportunity to ensure your NSW parliamentary representatives are reminded of the cruelty associated with the trade and to convey the community’s overwhelming support for the phase-out.

To do this, we need your help. We need you to call on the NSW Parliament to rise above the rhetoric of exporters and industry, to heed the science, and to reflect the views of the NSW community.
We must maintain pressure throughout the phase-out until the last boat has sailed.
