History

Conjecture was founded in 2022 by Connor Leahy, Sid Black and Gabriel Alfour. Its founders and early staff are mostly former members of EleutherAI, a decentralized collective of volunteer researchers focused on building and open sourcing large language models.

Funding

Conjecture has received VC funding from Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, Patrick and John Collison, Arthur Breitman, Andrej Karpathy, and Sam Bankman-Fried. It is headquartered in London.
