Innovations for Poverty Action

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-profit organization that carries out research on poverty alleviation and development programs, and advocates for the use of this research in decision-making.

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a close partner of IPA.

History

IPA was founded in 2011 by Dean Karlan, an American development economist.

Evaluation

In 2011, GiveWell rated IPA a standout charity.[1] As of May 2022, IPA has received $350,000 in funding from Open Philanthropy,[2] and is also featured in The Life You Can Save's list of "best charities".[3]
