I must tell you the position I am writing from because it is essential for the context.
I have no one to turn to for help in my surroundings who would understand what I am asking.
50 years old. Orphan. Autodidact.
For as long as I’ve been alive, it feels to me like the country I come from and the entire world have been at war. Ex-Yu.
I ask you: why have we, as a species, come to this position?
To elaborate:
There is enough land for everyone. Surface area x population—and yet, so many people are homeless.
There is enough food for everyone. Again, surface area x population—and yet, half the population lives below the subsistence minimum.
There is enough energy for everyone. Nuclear, solar, hydro—and yet, it is still being stolen from others.
I understand that we haven’t reached that level of consciousness where we stop stealing and start building together.
But that doesn't mean we cannot learn how to get there.
The two main causes of the current situation are a misplaced ego and a lack of focus as a society, as a species.
Do I really need a pedigree to propose a potential solution?
I understand that we have seen most of the elements, the blocks that build our reality—but that doesn't mean we cannot rearrange them into values that lead us to our goal. Shouldn't our primary goal, as a species, be the preservation and expansion beyond our home planet?
I ask you, are you ready to let the worst in us win? I wouldn't allow it, out of sheer defiance, out of spite.
Can we solve the ego problem by giving every child an AI nanny with hardcoded ethics? One that would work on education and reaching maximum cognitive capacities, with an emphasis on critical thinking and empathy. Mandatory participation of parents and the community would be required.
Can we direct migration in a planned manner? To where people are needed, and what kind of people.
I don't care what color your skin is, what religion you are, or what your sexual orientation is. We all work together—not for ourselves to be better off, but for our great-grandchildren.
Won't the system be diametrically different if everyone has food, shelter, and dignified living conditions?
I don't need capital. I know that one can survive on very little. Paper, 1s and 0s, a piece of metal—it has no value to me if my grandson is going to live in this kind of world, or, judging by the trajectory, a worse one.
I don't have the capacity to determine the exact parameters, nor am I an expert in many fields.
But can't a sufficient number of people agree on 5 definitions? Where we are, where we are going, where we need to go, how to get there, how to stay.
