I can't say how effective they are in this space, but UNHCR is active and reputable.

Is there any reason you want to focus on Afghanistan in particular?
As part of a discussion yesterday, I have some coworkers who are interested in donating to some effective causes and were curious to know if there were any places that were doing work specifically in Afghanistan. I couldn't think of any quickly so I figured I'd toss it out on the forum.
