Discussion article for the meetup : Lunch meeting: Aid - Does it work?

WHEN: 29 January 2015 12:00:00PM (+0100)

WHERE: NTNU, Trondheim, Norway

Have you ever wondered about if aid actually helps the people who get it? Whether the money reaches its destination, whether the causes are effective and whether we will ever be able to eradicate extreme poverty?

Since the beginning of the 1950s the world's rich countries used approximately 2000 billion dollars in aid to poor countries. Norway alone spends more than 30 billion annually. Did it really have an effect?

LECTURE: - Kristin Clemet, leader in Civita and Norfund - Kim Gabrelli, political advisor to UNICEF Norway - Peter Jourdan, Programme Manager Imperial College London and SCI (Schistosomiasis Control Initiative)

Thursday 29 January at 12 to 14.00 Effective Altruism NTNU arrange a lunch meeting on challenges related to aid with exciting guests and lectures. We also want to focus on how YOU can make a real difference.

During the meeting, we serve fruit and coffee. Well met!
