In this interview, we discuss how to file a lawsuit to maximize the chances of winning, why there is variation in the animal-friendliness of animal cruelty laws in the US between different states, whether these laws should be defined narrowly or broadly, why prosecutors don’t prosecute these cases, as well as many more questions that probe into the state of farmed animal law in the US. To unpack all of these challenging questions, we have with us Sarah Gold, a litigator at Legal Impact for Chickens. She attended UC Berkeley Law School where she served as the president of the Animal Law Society and interned for Mercy for Animals. We are so glad she has taken the time to come and chat with us about the phenomenal work Legal Impact for Chickens does to alleviate the suffering of farmed animals through litigation!
