GFI was founded in 2016 as a sister organization of Mercy for Animals. [1] Bruce Friedrich has been the executive director since GFI's foundation.

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that promotes both plant-based and cell-based animal product alternatives.
