Thank you so much to everyone who engaged with GFI Europe’s call with questions for an AMA with our Science and Technology team! It was fascinating to see the range of questions asked and to understand the areas of alternative protein science and GFI Europe’s work that people are most curious about.

The video of responses to these questions, answered by our Head of SciTech, Seren Kell, and our Research and Grants Manager, Dr Stella Child, and hosted by our Head of Development, Emily Johnson, is now available, with an option to also view the transcript. It covers a range of topics, from how GFI Europe prioritises which European countries to focus on, how we track our impact, what open-access research sharing looks like, how we make the best use of our funding and what more we want to achieve. From a more technical viewpoint, we also explain the science around recombinant protein development and its associated growth factors.

We hope this video is informative and that it inspires you to join us in advancing alternative proteins in order to reduce food system emissions globally and save billions of animals from suffering. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to anyone who has donated to GFI, or is thinking of doing so. Everything we discuss in detail in this video – the work we do to build the scientific community and leverage R&D funding, and the counterfactual impact that brings – is possible because of our donors.

If you would like to learn even more about GFI Europe’s Science and Technology team or our other programmatic work, please visit the GFI Europe website. For an external view of GFI’s global impact, see Giving Green or Founder’s Pledge’s assessment of GFI’s work. If you would like to discuss the impact of donating to GFI in a bit more detail, please feel free to reach out to europe-philanthropy@gfi.org. We would love to hear from you!
