Love this Evan, really useful post! Two quick additions from me:
On Tip #4 Start Things - I came from a career in government and hadn't founded anything before applying or worked at a startup, so as with all these tips - don't let that stop you applying but I definitely agree starting things is super valuable experience.
Also I was applying to various EA / social impact roles for about a year on and off before getting accepted to AIM. If you're mid career-switch like I was, I'd also flag High Impact Professionals as a helpful program and depending on how EA your background already is, I think it's worth demonstrating some value alignment. I don't know how much it helped my application, but I volunteered at an EAG and completed an 'intro to EA' course - useful experiences regardless, but also good signals which seems to count for something!
Thanks Jacco, hope you found it useful and we appreciate your interest in supporting us! In general, no, unless you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) or similar as we operate through a US registered 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor at the moment.
