I found framing in the introduction to be helpful: imagining we find ourselves in a positive future and looking back on how we got there. We have the term pre-mortem for looking back from a hypothetical failure. But I don't know of a term for the positive version of that. It can be a useful technique for many different efforts, from planning a vacation to navigating transformative AI.
