Hi I'm Sanj! I'm currently a MATS Fellow based in Berkeley working on AI safety, policy and governance research: specifically economics modelling for gradual disempowerment risks mentored by Luke Drago and Rudolf Laine. Before this I was a predoctoral researcher at EIT Oxford (Ellison Institute of Technology), working on the economics of AI and robotics (specifically protein design), and the economics of aging and longevity. Before Oxford, I was in London where I graduated from the LSE with a BSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics (EME).
I've previously worked in the economics of space at London Economics, institutional decision making of gender and conflict through field research in the Balkans, and ending child hunger in the UK at the non-profit Magic Breakfast.
I've been involved in EA for 4 years now, first through LSE EA, and then through active involvement with the Oxford EA Society. My main cause interests are tech policy, safety and governance through an economic lens, specifically for disruptive technologies like AI, space and genomics.
